UX DESIGN / SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT / BUBBLE DEVELOPMENT

“Working with Blue Genie was a game-changer for our project. Despite the size and complexity, they never wavered in their commitment to get every detail right, and continue to work with us as we improve our software. I highly recommend Blue Genie for any software design and development needs!”

The Process

FIRST COMES THE USERS OF THE PRODUCT

.
Peeling back the layers of this digital onion revealed its true beauty but also complexity—like a techy version of a nesting doll, our software had to play nice with a whole cast of user profiles entering, using and managing the system. Each essential role not just got a key to the city but their own custom-designed digital portals, complete with bespoke workflows.

Crafting this ensemble cast of user profiles, getting into their role’s workflows, and mapping out their every potential move and handshake across the system wasn’t just a side quest—it was the main mission. It laid the groundwork for the tech masterpiece we were aiming to build.

.

DISCOVERING AND DEFINING

.
Admitting missteps is key, so here’s ours: Imagine us in the beginning of the project, at the design process’s edge, fully aware of the steps of discovery, definition, and ideation ahead. Yet, we dove into development like it was summer’s last pool party, not just skipping steps but creating a whole new dance. We landed with metaphorical belly flops not too long into the project, humorously reminded of the essential nature of those initial stages. Ultimately, we circled back, embracing those foundational steps fully and wholeheartedly. Lesson to ourselves and to anyone interested in software product development: Don’t skip them, ever!

.

THEN COMES THE TECH STACK

.

Even with our extensive discovery and definition of the work ahead it was clear we weren’t going to be able to figure it all out to every detail. So, we wanted to use a tool that would give us flexibility for changes and updates as we test things out. We decided to use Bubble, and what an amazing tool it is.

For design of screens and prototyping we first started with Adobe XD, and switched to Figma as Adobe decided they’ll be discontinuing XD.

And, there were all the tools we used to better communicate and get feedback throughout the design and development.
.

FINAL PRODUCT

.
After what felt like a gazillion pow-wows with our client—heaps of docs that could rival a small forest, wireframes more tangled than your earbuds, mockups that made us question our life choices, and prototypes that finally saw the light of day—add to all that two caffeine-fueled years of our lives—we crafted a product we’re very proud of.

Below screenshots don’t even start scratching the surface of this massively interactive system but here’s a taste of what the software looks like in the end. We would be happy to give you a demonstration if you’re interested in seeing our work in action.
